Someday, Someday, Maybe by Lauren Graham

Rating: 4 out of 5.

If you’re a huge Gilmore Girls fan like I am, then you’ve probably read Someday, Someday, Maybe by Lauren Graham, AKA Lorelei Gilmore.

Someday, Someday, Maybe is about a young, inspiring actress named Franny who moves to New York City in the mid-90’s to pursue her dreams. She gives herself a three-year deadline upon arriving to NYC to “make it”, or else its moving back home and settling down with her nice enough ex-boyfriend. Graham takes the reader through the struggles of trying to get acting gigs in NYC and how Franny hilariously tries to balance acting classes, auditions and waiting tables at a comedy club all while her bank account is quickly dwindling.

Franny comes to a crossroads as her three-year deadline is rapidly approaching and the most work she’s gotten is being in a commercial for Christmas sweaters – and all of a sudden her agent is no longer returning her phone calls.

Someday, Someday, Maybe tells a delightful, humorous story about wanting something so badly and following your dreams no matter what forks in the road you hit along the way. This novel gives great insight of the struggles aspiring actors and actresses face, which I personally found so interesting.

So, does Franny’s hard work pay off in the end? You’ll have to read to find out. I definitely recommend Someday, Someday, Maybe if you’re looking for a lighthearted read.

Happy reading!

Laura
