Season 5 | Episode 16

We’re back in Portugal this week y’all!! It’s so nice vicariously living through the Potomac women in Europe… I hope they allow Americans back in one day.

We pick up right where we left off last week at the ladies’ lunch. Karen is still prying Gizelle as to why she’s not more open with the group about her relationship with Jamal, which Gizelle deflects. Next up is toboggan rides Ashley had planned which everyone is less than thrilled about. I had a good laugh watching everyone freak out, but they all ended up just fine.

At the hotel bar later that night Gizelle informs Ashley on the group’s plans to prank Wendy and how Juan is indeed going to propose to Robyn. At dinner Candiace reveals she’s ready to have children, which Ashley instantly calls her out for taking shots at her and Michael for claiming they were “faking crying” about their miscarriage they suffered last year. Candiace does deserve this backlash, as she was BRUTAL to Ashley last season. Ashley and Candiace go in circles for awhile about this – Ashley wants an apology, Candiace keeps saying she doesn’t “want to go backwards”. I’m not sure if Ashley and Candiace will ever have a true friendship at this point; too many daggers have been thrown.

Back at the hotel after dinner the ladies decide to have a nightcap at the bar, which is where Operation: Scare Wendy begins. Gizelle, Robyn and Ashley have gotten an extra key to Wendy’s room, where they hide a fake snake and fake tarantulas in her bed (that looks dangerously real). After the rest of the women leave Wendy’s room, Wendy shrieks upon finding the fake animals, which the rest of the women get to see on another producer’s monitor. Wendy overall is a good sport about it; add it to the list of reasons why Potomac is arguably the best housewives franchise.

Then we reach the part of the episode where things get dicey. Remember the photoshoot everyone did for Robyn’s hat line? Well, after reviewing the photos, Robyn reveals she doesn’t like any of Karen’s photos (and is contemplating not having them on her website) due to them not being “youthful” or “hip” enough. Ouch.

Ashley then joins Robyn and Gizelle by the pool where she admits that Monique is counter-suing Candiace and that Monique wants her to (essentially) write a statement assassinating Candiace’s character. Robyn and Gizelle are mad that Monique is even involving Ashley in this mess (which I kind of agree with), but Ashley feels like she owes Monique due to how much Monique had Ashley’s back last year regarding the Michael/Bravo cameraman allegations.

We end on a to be continued and it looks like things get intense next week with the Ashley/Candiace/Monique drama and the awkwardness between Robyn and Karen.
